One Reason Auburn Wins The Sugar Bowl
What a year it has been for the Tigers! First there was quarterback roulette against Clemson in the opener, the crazy ending at home with LSU, the six game winning streak that sparked talk of a championship, and then there was the downfall at the end with the injury to Sophomore quarterback Sean White. This season almost had everything, and Auburn has one more chance on Monday night in the Sugar Bowl ([8:30] P.M. ET ESPN).
The Auburn Tigers Will Win The Sugar Bowl
Sean White Returns
There has been a lot of talk lately about 2017, and what recruit Jarrett Stidham will do at quarterback. That is great and all, but do not forget about the guy that made this offense go during the six game win streak at midseason. During that run White had a 73% completion rate and a 6/1 touchdown to interception ratio.
Overall this season Sean White was third in both rating (146.9) and completion percentage (65.2). The team overall when on the streak averaged 38.8 points per game. What did the team average during the injury in the last three games? (White only played in one) They averaged 24.7 and remember they scored 55 up against Alabama A&M. So just 7 and 12 points in final two SEC games.
Jeremy Johnson and John Franklin III had a combined 55.5 completion rate with only one touchdown. While Kamryn Pettway at one time was looked as the MVP of this team, it is without a doubt a fact that Sean White was the real MVP. At least, on the offensive side he was.
Who wins the game? Well the title of the article gives that away, but Auburn takes it 38-21 with a returning Sean White.
After that it should be a very interesting quarterback battle in spring to see who leads this team in 2017. Stidham or White? Who you got Auburn fans?
Happy New Year!
